If you were to tell 12 yr old me I would get to cut a theatrical trailer I would say “you got jokes bro” It was quite a thrill to get to contribute a small piece of this film’s legacy. It’s been a muse for all us creatives, filmmakers, and designers, worldwide.
For this piece I was given creative freedom on how the edit should be. So with the restriction being 30s and no dialogue. I wanted to highlight the key iconic moments of film by being FAST, BOLD, LOUD, and VIOLENT. The score was later custom made since we weren’t allowed to use the score of the film. Told the sound team I just wanted Loud Drums and make something similar from the original score.
In the end it was approved by the licensor and Otomo himself.
